Angefangen habe ich mit Griechenland – weil ich nicht den Mut hatte, in Zürich in den Zug Richtung Casablanca zu steigen. Es war eine absolute Abenteuerreise, am Schluss strandete ich sogar auf der Botschaft, bis auf den letzten Rappen abgebrannt und ringsum meinten sie, mit einem Krieg zwischen Zypern und Griechenland würde die Situation im östlichen Mittelmeer überschaubarer. Unerschrocken kam ich aus diesem Abenteuer dennoch nicht raus. Aber weiter neugierig, ob es Orte gibt, die mir mehr zusagen, als die Enge der Schweiz. Dabei ist die Schweiz wohl eines der «unengsten» Länder überhaupt: man kann überall hingehen, immer wieder nach Hause kommen und weil wir notgedrungen sprachgewandt sind, verständigen sich Schweizer eigentlich überall ganz gut!

I started with Greece – because I didn’t have the courage to get on the train in Zurich towards Casablanca. It was an absolute adventure trip, in the end I even ended up stranded at the embassy, burned to the last centime and around  a war between Cyprus and Greece. They probably thought, it would make the situation in the eastern Mediterranean more manageable. Nevertheless, I did not get out of this adventure undaunted. But still curious if there are places that appeal to me more desirable to live in  than the narrowness of Switzerland. But it seems that Switzerland is probably one of the «un-narrowest» countries of all: you can go anywhere, always come back home and because unavoidably we have to be  fluent in languages, the Swiss actually communicate quite well everywhere!
